Dorothy J. Sullivan Scholarship Program

Make Every Point Count on Your Educational Journey

At Dutch Point Credit Union, we are committed to supporting our members as they take the next step in their education and career. The Dorothy J. Sullivan Scholarship celebrates the dedication, ambition, and achievements of our members by providing financial assistance for higher education.

This scholarship honors Dorothy J. Sullivan, Dutch Point’s first employee and former President & CEO, whose passion for education and lifelong learning inspired the creation of this program. Her legacy lives on through our continued support of students pursuing their academic and career goals.

Each year, Dutch Point Credit Union awards up to $7,500 in one-time scholarships to help members invest in their future through college or accredited career programs. Let us help you move forward—wherever your journey takes you.

Eligibility Requirements

The Dorothy J. Sullivan Scholarship is available to Dutch Point Credit Union members who are committed to furthering their education and career opportunities. To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Membership Requirement – Applicants must be the primary member of a Dutch Point Credit Union account in good standing at the time of application.
  • Educational Status – The scholarship is open to:
    • High school seniors preparing to enter a two-year or four-year college or university.
    • Individuals returning to school or pursuing a new career path at an accredited institution.
  • Application Deadline – All applications must be submitted by April 30th of the award year.
Selection Process

Scholarship recipients are chosen based on a holistic review of their application, with a focus on academic ambition, personal growth, and community impact. Consideration is given to the following:

  • Educational and Career Goals – The applicant’s commitment to higher education and their intended field of study or career path.
  • Work and Community Involvement – Demonstrated dedication to learning through work experience, volunteerism, military service, apprenticeships, or caregiving responsibilities.
  • Personal Statement – A thoughtfully written response explaining:
    • The significance of pursuing higher education.
    • How the scholarship will help the applicant achieve their goals.
    • The applicant’s unique journey, aspirations, and commitment to personal and professional growth.
(Spelling, grammar, and clarity will be considered in the evaluation process.)

Financial need is not a factor in the selection process.

Recipients will be notified by June 15th, and scholarship awards will be issued in the student’s name. Dutch Point Credit Union may request a photo of recipients for use in promotional materials.
