As a community credit union, Dutch Point is committed to giving back to the communities we serve. In 2005, we established our “Read to Achieve” Literacy Program and partnered with other organizations with both resources and programs that make a difference in our local communities in the fight against illiteracy.

Partnership:

The credit union has partnerships with the Greater Hartford Literacy Council, the Literacy Volunteers of Central CT, and the Richard J. Kinsella Magnet School located in Hartford, CT.

Programs:

The credit union has a 100% participating from the employees in a matching funds donation campaign raising over $8,000 annually.

Sponsors the Richard J. Kinsella Magnet School with their “first books at home initiative”, donates dictionaries to all students in the 5th grade. Sponsors educational field trips. We work with the Kinsella School on an ongoing basis to develop literacy programs and initiatives for the students.

Participates in the Literacy Volunteers of Central CT Annual Scrabble Tournament as a Sponsor.

Supports the Smalley School in New Britain and is a sponsor of their Family Fun Day.

Supports education and athletic events for the local High Schools in the Towns of Wethersfield, Newington, Rocky Hill, Berlin, and East Lyme.

Employees volunteer their time as mentors at the Lilly B. Haynes Elementary School in Niantic in a reading and mentoring program to third and 4th graders.
